Julie Kohner presented Voices of the Generations at the California Museum in Sacramento on Sunday, Sept 24. This engagement coincided with the museum’s display of Light & Noir, exploring the history of Jewish refugees who fled Nazi persecution during Hollywood’s Golden Age and the second world war.
Special thanks to Executive Director Amanda Meeker, and Communications and Marketing Director Brenna Hamilton for hosting us as part of this engaging exhibit at The California Museum.

On Friday May 12, Julie Kohner, Founder of Voices of the Generations, was the guest speaker at the Jewish Federation’s Lions of Judah and Pomegranates lunch. The luncheon attendees were moved and inspired by the program. In addition, Julie introduced a surprise guest, Jay Shucart. Jay is the son of Sargent Harold Shucart who librtated Hanna from Camp Mauthausen. Harold Shucart was one of the surprise guests featured on the 1953 episode of This Is Your Life, Hanna Bloch Kohner.
Julie Kohner spoke on Yom HaShoah, April 23, 2017, to congregants at synagogues in Philadelphia.
Speaking first at Congregation Beth Or, hosted by religious school educator Aaron Nielsenshultz.

That evening Julie was hosted by Rabbi Shoshanah Tornberg, director of education and life-long learning at Congregation Or Ami.

As Yom HaShoah and Genocide Awareness are observed this Month, the Holocaust and its place in history remains as relevant in the future as it is today. With this in mind, we ask for your support of Voices of the Generations as it continues teaching the Holocaust and finds new engaging ways to carry on the legacies of the survivors for future generations. Thank you.

Voices of the Generations was invited to speak at St. Martin of Tours in West Los Angeles on January 11, 2017. Julie spoke to 7th and 8th grade students before their field trip to the Museum of Tolerance. Thank you to Rabbi Cohn, Rabbi Reimer, and Rabbi Freehling for making it possible to share VOG as part of the community wide Kristallnacht program at Temple Sinai in New Orleans.
I was honored to speak to the students of Whitwell Middle School in September, who have commemorated the Holocaust in such a unique and personal way.
My article published today in the Jewish Journal describes this most memorable experience at Whitwell.

Appearing in today’s Los Angeles Times is the story of Deborah Lipstadt, Holocaust Scholar and the Professor of Modern Jewish History and Holocaust Studies at Emory University. Her real life story of defending herself in a libel suit in Britain, brought by an infamous Holocaust denier, is the basis of the feature film ‘Denial’.
